Toenail treatments

Toenail problems can occur as a result of infection (fungal infections, etc.), other diseases and mechanical influences (trauma, unsuitable footwear, etc.). The specialists at the Dermatology Clinic urge you not to hesitate and to see a specialist if you notice physical or cosmetic problems with your nails - they do not go away, but progress, making the condition even more serious.

The most requested toenail treatments

  • Nail fungus treatment with diode laser
Nail fungus is a highly contagious and common nail disease that is not a threat to human health, but it is very damaging to the condition of the nails (the nail changes colour, texture and may split) and to the quality of life. The treatment of nail fungus is a time-consuming process, the premature cessation of which creates the risk of re-infection. Nail fungus is treated by a podiatrist in collaboration with a dermatologist. Both medication and laser therapy are used to get rid of the fungus infection.
In addition to medical therapy, the A.R.C. diode laser is used to treat nail fungus at the Dermatology Clinic. The laser energy is converted into heat in the tissue, which causes irreversible changes in the fungal cells - the nail fungus gradually dies. The laser does not damage the surrounding tissue and has no adverse health events. Before starting laser therapy, it is important to carry out tests to confirm the fungal infection and determine the type of infection, in order to adjust the number of laser treatments required and the appropriate medical therapy.

The treatment takes on average 20-30 minutes and usually requires three treatments with 6-8 weeks interval.
For best results, it is advisable to have a therapeutic pedicure before laser therapy.
  • Correction of ingrown nails by the clamp or wire method
An ingrown toenail causes both visual and physical discomfort, and if it is not corrected, the condition worsens to the point where surgical intervention is the only solution.

To prevent this, the podiatrist can now use special clamps or wires to correct ingrown nails. The specific method and duration of treatment is determined by the specialist after assessing the nail condition.

A clamp or wire with a specific degree of tension is placed on the ingrown toenail. The solution allows the nail to return to its natural shape and the correct direction of growth, while preserving the nail itself and lasting results. The clamp or wire method is painless and provides immediate relief by relieving the compressed tissues.
